Paul Liversage, tenor saxophone, performs with a number of ensembles including the Lake Agassiz Concert Band and the Hard-Bop Saxophone Quartet. He is an alumnus of North Dakota State University and received his masters degree in music education from Florida State University. Paul has been a music educator in Minnesota since 1984.



Tim Johnson, trombone, lives in Moorhead with his wife Amy and two children, Elizabeth and Zachary. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of North Dakota (1990) and a Master of Arts degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead (1998). In addition to the Jazz Nickel, Tim is a member of the North Dakota American Legion State Band (euphonium), F-M Kicks Big Band and “Whiskey River” variety band (bass guitar). He has recently performed with the F-M Jazz Arts Group, MSUM Straw Hat Players and the F-M Community Theater. Tim teaches elementary and junior high band for the DGF school district.



Jeremy Cahill, bass and bass Guitar, is currently performing in the Fargo-Moorhead area with The Deb Jenkins Band, The Blue Wailers, The FM Kicks Big Band and the Jazz Nickel. He attended college at Berklee College of Music majoring in String Bass Instrumental Performance. Cahill studied privately with Major Holley, Ron McLure, Richard Appelman, and William Curtis. In the past, Jeremy has performed with the Jazz Arts Group Big Band, FM Symphony Orchestra, and FM Community Theatre. Other notable players he has performed with include jazz notables Claudio Roditi, George Garzone, Keith O’Quinn, Alan Zavod, Ray Santisi, Chuck Zeuren, and Frankie Dunlap. He has also performed with opening bands for The Jeff Healey Band, The J. Geils Band, and Moby Grape and has youred with “The Ebony Follies” with Cab Calloway. Jeremy has performed all over the nation having played in New York, Boston, Phoenix, Reno, Seattle, Catskills as well as on the cruise ship MS Starward (where he met his wife-to-be, Mary). Jeremy works at the Fargo Post Office and lives with his wife and their Chow-Chow, Sumo, in North Fargo.



Tim Zoerner, drums, lives in Moorhead with his wife Susann and has three children. He holds a B.S. degree in Business from the University of Minnesota and works for Estes Express Lines as an Account Manager. He originally hails from Hibbing, Minnesota and started playing the drums in 5th grade. His first paying gig was in 7th grade for the Jr. High Valentine School Dance. He studied percussion under Marv Dahlgren & Elliot Fine of the U. of Minnesota and Minnesota Orchestra and has played in a variety of bands from polka, country, show, rock and jazz over the years.
